It
is important that each of us openly confront our republican neighbors very aggressively at every opportunity about the failures
of virtually every policy they currently have in place. To not do so indicates one of two things, both of which are bad. Our
silence indicates we concur with and passively support their failed positions, or we are afraid to express our objections
because we have grown accustomed to their opinions being expressed more loudly and strongly than ours.
This is
changing fast. As seen above, the state republican chairman has resorted to "no comment" as his standard reply to
virtually every request for a quote in recent days.
Here is a good plan. First, choose a topic, any topic. This
is easy, as they are wrong on virtually every position they have in place. Study an issue you feel strongly about, and come
up with a couple of good sentences that expresses your sincere feelings. Something like "We can not 'Stay the Course'
in Iraq because by July 2007 we will have no more troops to stay the course with. Baghdad will continue to look more and more
like the Alamo." Or "Medicare Part D is probably the worst piece of legislation ever passed. The idea that our government
can't negotiate drug prices with our drug companies is insane."
It is time for every Democrat to begin
this practice. As with many things in life, it gets easier, and you get better, each time you try it. There are a great many
undecided voters waiting to see us 'Take a Stand'.
