The Bert Smith For Congress 2008 Campaign will have Baesball Night with the RedHawks on the evenign of August 15, 2007 at the Ballpark in Bricktown.

Mr. Smith, who was a pitcher for his Canute High School baseball team, has been promised an opportunity to try to throw the ball all the way from the pitchers mound to the catcher, in events just prior to the start of the game.

"I really like the game. I guess it's still my favorite sport," Smith said. "My oldest son, Justin, was a lefthanded pitcher. He was drafted three times by major league organizations and was the winning pitcher in the opening game of the 1999 College World Series.
My middle son, Jason, a switch hitter, got a hit from each side of the plate in the 1998 Oklahoma High School All State game." (The youngest, Tommy, returned from Afghanistan abot two weeks ago.)

The gathering at the ballpark is a fundraiser, but the emphasis will be on FUN & FELLOWSHIP, as we discuss the various campaigns and candidates with good fellow Democrats. There is no minimum donation required, 'just give what you can', but we would like a pledge of a couple evenings of Bert Smith campaign activity in your neighborhood. "Kind of like in the cavalry in Vietnam, where we flew by: 'WE WILL LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND'", Bert said. "It is our intention to leave no good Democrat out of any activitity simply because they might be a bit short of funds. Heck, maybe they just filled their car up with gas!!!, and still have to buy some groceries!"

Smith concluded, "Now, as I climb down off my soap box...sorry about the rant...It's still a year from the primary and we have twice as good a campaign now as we ever had at any time during either of the last two. The candidate is probably twice as good, and we have at least twice as many committed supporters. No one has really quit us forever in anger or discust. When they temporarily run out of motivation or something to do, they just sort of seem to 'go back into the dugout and wait quietly for the next inning.

Mark August 15th on your schedules and plan to join us. It will be fun!!!
